About Bladder Prolapse (Cystocele) and Rectocele Repair
Cystocele is the prolapse of the bladder, and rectocele is the prolapse of the last part of the large intestine toward the vaginal wall. In cystocele, symptoms such as incomplete bladder emptying, frequent urination, and urinary incontinence are prominent; in rectocele, constipation and a feeling of incomplete bowel evacuation are the main symptoms. During the examination, the location and degree of the prolapse are determined, and additional tests are performed if necessary. Repair surgery is performed vaginally and aims to support the weakened tissue. After surgery, avoiding heavy lifting, preventing constipation, and performing pelvic floor exercises help reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
