About Hysteroscopic Myoma and Polyp Removal
Submucosal fibroids growing into the uterine cavity and endometrial polyps are common causes of spotting between periods, heavy menstrual bleeding, and difficulty conceiving. These formations can be removed using a system inserted through the cervix, without making an incision in the abdomen. The removed tissue is sent for pathological examination; the vast majority of polyps are benign, but a definitive diagnosis is made after examination. Improvement in bleeding patterns is observed in many patients after the procedure, and for those planning pregnancy, the uterine environment is improved. Since polyps can redevelop over time, regular ultrasound monitoring is recommended.
