About Closed (Laparoscopic) Hysterectomy Surgery
Laparoscopic hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus through several small incisions in the abdominal wall using a camera. In suitable patients, it provides less pain, smaller scars, and generally an earlier return to daily life compared to open surgery. When necessary, the uterus is removed vaginally; the size of the uterus, previous surgeries, and intra-abdominal adhesions determine the suitability of the method. If unexpected findings arise during the surgery, conversion to open surgery may be required, and this possibility is communicated beforehand. The recovery process, return-to-work timeline, and postoperative follow-ups are explained in detail during the consultation.
