About Vaginal Hysterectomy and LAVH
In vaginal hysterectomy, the uterus is removed through the vaginal route without making an incision in the abdominal wall; this method is one of the least invasive options for suitable patients. It is especially preferred when uterine prolapse is present and the size of the uterus is appropriate. In some cases, when evaluation of the intra-abdominal structures is necessary, laparoscopic assistance is added; this method is called laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy. The absence of an abdominal incision helps reduce postoperative pain and scarring. The choice of method is made by evaluating examination findings, uterine size, and previous surgeries.
