About Prenatal (Pregnancy) Ultrasonography
Pregnancy ultrasound is an imaging method that uses sound waves and does not involve radiation. During routine check-ups, the baby's measurements, heartbeat, position, amniotic fluid, and placental placement are evaluated; the findings are interpreted according to the gestational age. The examination can be repeated at every visit and has no known harm to the mother or baby. Image quality may vary depending on the thickness of the abdominal wall, the baby's position, and the amount of fluid. Ultrasound alone is not a diagnostic tool; it is assessed together with physical examination and laboratory findings.
