About Laparoscopic Myomectomy
Myomectomy is a surgical procedure in which only the fibroids are removed while preserving the uterus, and it is especially preferred for patients planning pregnancy. In the laparoscopic method, the procedure is performed through small incisions in the abdomen; after the fibroid is removed, the uterine wall is carefully repaired. The suitability of the method is determined based on the number, size, and location of the fibroids within the uterus; open surgery may be safer for numerous or very large fibroids. The waiting period before planning pregnancy and the mode of delivery after surgery are planned according to the extent of the uterine wall repair. It is initially explained that fibroids may recur in the future and that follow-up is necessary.
