About Laparoscopic Ovarian Cyst Surgery
Most ovarian cysts regress with observation; however, surgery is considered for cysts that are growing, have a complex structure, cause pain, or carry a risk of torsion. The goal of the laparoscopic approach is to remove the cyst while preserving as much healthy ovarian tissue as possible, which is important for ovarian reserve. Before surgery, a plan is made by evaluating ultrasound findings and tumor markers if necessary. The removed tissue is always sent for pathological examination, and a definitive diagnosis is made based on this analysis. Postoperative follow-up is planned according to the pathology results and the patient's age.
