About HPV Vaccine Administration
The HPV vaccine aims to create immunity against virus types associated with cervical cancer and genital warts. The greatest benefit is achieved when administered before exposure to the virus, during adolescence; however, it can also be recommended for appropriate individuals at older ages. The number of doses varies depending on the age at which vaccination is started and is planned during the consultation. The vaccine does not treat an existing infection and does not replace screening tests; individuals who have been vaccinated still need to continue smear follow-up. Possible side effects and the vaccination schedule are explained in detail before administration.
