About Cervical Erosion Treatment (Cauterization and Cryotherapy)
The appearance commonly known as cervical erosion is often cervical ectropion; that is, the cells from the cervical canal shift outward. This condition is not a wound or infection and does not require treatment if there are no symptoms. However, if there are complaints such as persistent discharge or spotting after intercourse, it can be treated with cauterization or cryotherapy. Before treatment, a smear test and, if necessary, an HPV test along with colposcopy are performed to ensure there is no other underlying cause for the appearance. After the procedure, watery discharge that may last for several weeks is expected, and a follow-up examination is scheduled.
